The purpose of this paper is to understand the concept of virtue presented by Stoicism, and discuss the moral educational implications. According to this purpose, I briefly introduced the background and development process of the emergence of the Stoa idea in Chapter 2 and presented the characteristics of the concept of virtue proposed by the Stoa school. In the following Chapter 3, I presented how the concept of maturity of virtue can be combined with the naturalist view, and the discussion in which they embrace moral sentiments from the naturalist point of view. and in Chapter 4, I discussed the moral maturity of the Stoics by dividing their views into individual and social perspectives. Finally, I expected that these Stoa ideas have a kind of alternative value for modern virtue ethics, and that they can also provide important Insights in establishing the relationship between ethics and natural science, which is being actively discussed today.

본 논문의 목적은 전체적인 스토아사상을 이해하는 가운데 그들이 제시한 덕의 개념을 이해하고 그 의의를 확인하는 것이다. 이러한 목적에 서 연구자는 스토아사상의 전개 과정을 간략히 소개한 후 스토아학파가 제안한 덕 개념이 지닌 두 가지 특징을 제시하였다. 3장에서는 덕 개념이 자연주의적 관점과 결합하는 방식과자연주의적 관점에서 도덕적 정서를 포섭하고자 하는 그들의 시도를 검토하였다. 이어진 4장에서는 스토아학파가 제시한 덕의 성숙(발전)을 개인적 관점과 사회적 관점으로 나누어 제시한 후, 결론에서 스토아사상이 현대 덕 윤리에 대한 일종의 대안적 가치를 제공하며, 윤리와 자연과학의 관계 설정 등에 대한 최근의 논의에도중요한 시사점을 제공할 수 있음을 밝혔다.
