The recent increase of industrial security crimes is drawing attention to the importance and necessity of industrial security. This is because industrial security crimes can fundamentally undermine the competitiveness of companies. Nevertheless, the researches on industrial security crimes have been very poor. Theoretical analysis and research on industrial security crimes are also essential in that the need for industrial security stems from the seriousness of industrial security crimes. The results of theoretical verification showed that the clap theory met the conditions of logical consistency, comprehensive scope, parsimony, and testability. However, the assessment of empirical validity and academic and policy utility criteria that must be verified through specific examples and data analysis cannot be met. It would require verification through subsequent empirical studies. With a short history of academia and a lack of research, such as the field of industrial security, the establishment of theories and the emergence of other theories based on the criticism of the former theories are essential parts for the academic development. The dialectical development process of theory in which theories that show limitations in explaining socio-economic changes are replaced by new theories is applied to industrial security research as well. That is why the clap theory was suggested despite many limitations and problems. The verification of empirical validity and usefulness would be subsequent research tasks.

산업보안범죄가 증가하면서 산업보안의 중요성과 필요성 또한 높아지고 있다. 경제 안보 시대에서 산업보안범죄는 기업과 국가의 경쟁력을 근본적으로 훼손할 수 있기 때문이 다. 그럼에도 불구하고 산업보안범죄에 대한 연구와 이를 통한 산업보안이론 관련 연구는 매우 미진한 상태이다. 산업보안의 필요성이 산업보안범죄의 심각성에서 비롯된다는 점에 서도 산업보안범죄에 대한 이론적 분석과 연구는 반드시 필요하며, 과학적으로 검증돼야 할 것이다. 이론적 검증결과, 박수이론은 논리적 일관성, 포괄적 범위와 단순 간결성, 검증 가능성 등의 조건은 충족하는 것으로 평가된다. 하지만, 구체적인 사례와 데이터 분석을 통해 검증 해야 하는 경험적 타당성과 학문적 및 정책적 유용성 기준에 대한 평가는 충족할 수 없으 며 후속 실증 연구를 통해 검증과정을 거쳐야 할 것이다. 산업보안 분야와 같이 학문의 역사가 짧고 연구가 부족한 상황에서 이론의 정립과 비판 은 학문의 발전 과정을 위해 꼭 필요한 부분이 아닐 수 없다. 사회경제 변화에 따라 설명력 에 한계를 보이는 이론이 새로운 이론에 의해 대체되는 이론의 변증법적 발전 과정은 산업 보안 연구에도 그대로 적용된다. 많은 한계와 문제점에도 불구하고 박수이론이 제시된 이 유이며, 경험적 타당성과 효용성 검증 등은 이후 후속 연구과제가 될 것이다.
