This study is designed to empirically study and justify the impact of police officers' educational and training characteristics on learning effects through the medium of disability awareness and intimacy of hearing impaired people. The study confirmed the correlation between the two sides in order to improve the police's sense of disability and prejudice in dealing with hearing impaired people by creating sign language training courses at the four educational institutions(POLICE HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE, Korean National Police University, Korea Police Investigation Academy, CENTRAL POLICE ACADEMY) of the police. It offers a lesson that if police officers learn sign language, they will be more active in hearing-impaired cases. From May 2018 to July 2019, 422 police officers across the country who completed sign language education at the National Police Agency were surveyed by the self-written law to verify the validity of their composition and contents. While this result, derived from a sample group of 422 incumbent police officers, may be generalized to all sectors and may have some limitations as to whether the learning effect is sustainable as a transversal study, the results of this study, which empirically verified the training of police officers in sign language, have already been demonstrated in various ways in policy. Based on these analysis results, it was proposed as a follow-up study on the necessity of sign language education training by police educational institutions and the social universality of improvement of awareness of the disabled.

이 연구는 사회적 약자인 청각 장애인에 대한 경찰공무원의 교육 훈련 특성이 장애 인식과 친밀감을 매개로 하여 학습효과에 미치는 영향 관계를 실증연구하고 이를 타당 화하기 위한 것이다. 경찰의 4대 교육기관에 수어(手語) 교육 훈련 과정을 개설함으로 써 경찰의 장애인식 개선과 수사기관의 높은 문턱에 편견을 갖지 않도록 그 상관관계 의 영향성을 확인한 것으로서, 경찰관이 수어를 익히면 청각 장애인 사건의 직무수행에 더욱 적극적일 것이라는 시사점을 제시하고 있다. 2018년 5월부터 2019년 7월까지 경찰 인재개발원에서 수어 교육을 이수한 전국의 현장 경찰관 422명을 대상으로 자기기입법 (自己記入法)에 의한 설문조사를 통해 구성과 내용의 타당성을 검증하였다. 현직 경찰 관 422명의 표본집단에서 도출된 이 결과를 모든 부문으로 일반화하여 확대해석하거나, 횡단적 연구로서 학습효과의 지속성 여부에 대해서는 일부 한계점을 가질 수 있지만, 경찰관의 수어 교육 훈련을 실증적으로 검증한 이 연구의 성과는 이미 정책적으로 다 각도에서 입증되고 있다. 이와 같은 분석 결과를 토대로 경찰교육 기관의 수어 교육 훈 련 필요성과 장애인식 개선에 따른 사회적 보편성을 후속 연구로 제안하였다.
