South Korea celebrated the centenary of the March 1st independence movement and the establishment of the provisional government in Shanghai. Therefore, it is worth comparing the peace driven by the independence movement with the peace in the New Testament in order to find out ways of implementing peace. To implement sustained peace in domestic and international affairs is not easy. This paper focuses on Luke-Acts which includes frequent references to the noun ‘peace’(εἰρήνη) by figuring out the biblical concept and principle of peace. To accomplish this, exegesis is done on the 21 Luke-Acts peace passages, Then, the comparison between the peace of the March 1st independence movement with the Lukan paxology is implemented. The starting point of this paper is Scripture, through which the present researcher tries to probe the context of peace in the March 1st independence movement. The publicness of peace is discerned and enhanced by contemporary Christians as homo pacis in four ways of (1) trusting Jesus Christ as the true and holistic peacemaker, (2) transforming conflict through reconciliation, (3) resisting the satanic and imperial pressures through nonviolent but vibrant means, and (4) fulfilling the historical demands for the church through the Gospel, prayer, and resurrectional power.

3.1운동과 그 결과물인 상해 대한민국임시정부 수립 100주년을 갓 보 낸 시점에, 그 독립평화운동을 신약성경의 평화와 비교하면서, 오늘 날 그리스도인의 평화정착을 위한 길을 모색하는 것은 큰 의의가 있 다. 국내와 국외에서 자유와 평화를 정착시키는 것은 여전히 어려운 과제다. 이 글은 ‘평화’를 중요한 주제로 삼는 신약 성경 가운데, 명 사 ‘평화’(εἰρήνη)를 가장 자주 언급하는 누가복음-사도행전으로 범위 를 좁혀 성경적 평화의 개념과 원리를 찾을 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 누가-행전에서 명사 ‘평화’를 포함하는 총 21개 본문을 주해하고, 3.1 운동의 평화적 성격을 탐구하여, 누가가 제시하는 평화론(paxology)과 비교한다. 따라서 이 글은 성경 텍스트를 출발점으로 삼아 3.1운동이 라는 컨텍트스를 검토하는 방식을 따른다. 오늘날 평화 인간(homo pacis)인 그리스도인이 실현해야할 공공적 평 화는 (1) 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 얻는 통전적 구원의 결과로서 평 화, (2) 갈등과 반목을 화해와 위로로 승화시키는 평화, (3) 사탄의 세 력과 제국적 요소의 압력에 굴하지 않는 비폭력과 믿음의 저항으로 얻는 평화, 그리고 (4) 복음과 기도와 부활의 권능을 덧입어 시대적 요청을 분별함으로 구현해 가는 평화임을 논증할 것이다.
