This study focuses on the full range leadership that Park Hangseo exercised. Full range leadership is based on the assumption that combination of various leadership behaviors can create a synergy effect. Park Hangseo’s case demonstrates leadership behaviors such as idealized influence, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, contingent reward, and management by exception. His leadership behaviors can be described in specific as follows. First, Park Hangseo priotized soccer development in Vietnam over immediate noticeable winning record and laid groundwork for the future. He emphasized ‘Vietnamese spirit’ and built up trust as a foreign coach from team members, Second, Park Hangseo tried to remove regionalism in choosing players, which was driving force in building ‘One Team’ finally. This brought Vietnamese feel together and made them feel united. Third, Park Hangseo broke hierarchical organizational culture in athletic team and built a family like relationship, which touched his team members. He won team members’ heart, which was the power of the leader Park Hangseo in the end.

본 연구는 박항서가 발휘한 전범위 리더십에 관하여 조사 및 분석하였다. 전범위 리더십이란 다양한 리더십 행위가 함께 발휘될 때 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있다는 가정에 근거한 리더십 이론이다. 박항서의 경우는 이상적 영향, 개별적 관심, 지적 자극, 상황적 보상, 예외에 의한 관리와 같은 리더십 행위 유형을 잘 보여주고 있다. 그의 리더십은 다음과 같이 상술될 수 있다. 첫째, 박항서는 즉각적이고 눈에 띄는 당장의 승리보다는 ‘베트남 축구 발전’이라는 장기 목표를 우선시하였으며 이를 위하여 미래를 위한 초석을 쌓는데 주력하였다. 둘째, 박항서는 선수 선발에 있어 지역주의를 배제하였는데, 이는 그가 주장하는 ‘원 팀’을 만들어 나가는 데 있어 중요한 초석이 될 수 있었다. 이로 인하여 베트남 사람은 소속감을 느낄 수 있었으며 하나로 뭉칠 수 있었다. 셋째, 박항서는 위계 조직 문화를 타파하고 가족과 같은 관계 형성을 하였으며, 이는 조직원을 감동시켰다. 그는 팀원들의 마음을 얻었으며, 이는 결국 리더 박항서의 능력을 발휘할 수 있는 원동력이 되었다.
