Educators are constantly looking for new and inspired methods of connecting with their students, colleagues, and administrators. So often, teaching becomes weighed down with testing, ranking, meeting deadlines, and passing evaluations. However, education should be more than that, it should be a connection between one soul and qualities. Educational research in the United States has begun to move in the direction of mindfulness, both for teachers and students, and you can see evidence of schools using techniques of engaging with In this series of studies, educators and students were introduced to a method of self-reflection called core reflection. The participants learned how to implement aspects of core reflection with themselves in times of conflict, and with those around them (whether students or teachers). The result of these studies was largely positive, with students and teachers inspired to continue using core reflection as a mindfulness exercise and as a way to engage with self-feelings and regulate their reactions to outside events and influences. This study was presented at the 2017 APNHE Annual Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. The focus of the presentation was to introduce the studies, and to provide the attendees with skills and ideas that they could implement immediately into their teaching lives.
