Until 1970s, there were only four papers on Ha-gok studies and Yang-ming studies in Joseon dynasty. The research on Yang-ming studies in Korean started to develop from 1970s with the publication of “Works of Ha-gok – Korean translation Ⅰ”(1972) and “Works of Ha-gok – Korean translation Ⅱ”(1973) by Yoon Nam Han. In 1995, the Korean Society of Yang-ming studies was founded and after that the research on Yang-ming studies in Korea was activated. Currently, the discovery, analysis and rearrangement of Yang-ming studies in Joseon dynasty, as well as the reconstruction of Yang-ming studies based on modern viewpoint etc. are being carried out actively, and the results achieved are impressive. In this paper, the authors analyze the achievements and current situation of the international conferences on Gang-hwa school of Yang-ming studies held by the Korean Society of Yang-ming studies which has enormously contributed to the remarkable results from promoting the research on Yang-ming studies in Korea. Through overall analyses and evaluations, the authors clarify which contribution that those international conferences on Gang-hwa school of Yang-ming studies have made towards the research on Korean Yang-ming studies in general and Ha-gok studies (i.e. Gang-hwa school of Yang-ming studies) in particular, what outstanding questions are, and which problems must be dealt with in the future. And after that the authors try to offer some information necessary for the research and work concerned with Korean Yang-ming studies, and suggest some general directions to researchers and administrative agencies who are considering those issues.

1970년대 이전까지 하곡학을 비롯한 조선시대의 양명학에 관한 연구 성과는 불과 4편 의 논문에 불과하다. 한국에서의 양명학에 대한 연구는 1970년대 이르러 윤남한에 의해 국역 하곡집(1)(1972)과 국역 하곡집(2)(1973)이 번역‧간행되면서 연구의 발판이 마 련되었다. 그리고 1995년 한국양명학회가 창립되면서 한국에서의 양명학 연구는 활기를 띠게 되었다. 현재 조선시대의 양명학을 발굴하여 분석하고 정리하는 연구와 더불어 양 명학을 현대적인 관점에서 새롭게 재구성하는 등의 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국에서의 양명학 연구를 활성화하고 괄목할 만한 연구성과를 축적하 는데 크게 기여한 한국양명학회의 ‘강화양명학 국제학술대회’의 성과와 현황을 분석하 고, 이에 대한 종합적 분석과 평가를 통해 ‘강화양명학 국제학술대회’가 넓게는 한국양명 학, 좁게는 하곡학(강화양명학) 연구에 어떠한 기여를 하였으며, 앞으로 해결해나가야 할 과제는 무엇이 있는지 밝혀 보고자 한다. 그리고 이를 통해 향후 한국양명학 관련 연구 및 사업 추진을 위한 기초 정보를 제공하고, 관련 분야의 연구 및 사업의 추진을 고민하는 연구자 및 행정기관에 방향성을 제언하고자 한다.
