[Purpose] To understand the Korean golf industry, which has continued to grow despite the gradual and steady decline of the global golf participation over the past two decades, the present study aims to analyze differences in golf participation motive and fun by the age of Korean golfers. [Method] With voluntarily participated consumers in the Korean golf industry, 316 surveys were analyzed for reliability and validity using SPSS/AMOS 23.0, and Multivariate Analysis of Variance(MANOVA) was used to compare and analyze the participants’consumption behaviors. [Result] On participation motivation factor, younger golfers showed a higher score on socialization and internal motivation, while older golfers showed a higher score on health motivation. Furthermore, on fun factor, the younger group showed a higher score on the perception factor. What is also worth noting is that all participants regardless of their age showed the highest score on the show-off motivation factor. [Conclusion] This study identified significant results depending on the age of Korean golfers about why Koreans enjoy playing golf and why they find golf fun, and also observed the Korean golf industry’distinctive feathers(e.g., showoff factor), which received the highest score across all age groups.

[목적] 지난 20년간 전 세계 골프인구가 점진적이고 지속적으로 감소하고 있는 것과는 다르게 꾸준히 성장 중인 한국골프산업을 이해하기 위해 한국골퍼들의 연령에 따른 골프참여 동기와 재미의 차이를 분석하는 데에 본 연 구의 목적을 두고 있다. [방법] 한국골프산업 소비자들의 자발적인 참여로 수집된 316부의 설문지는 SPSS/AMOS 23.0을 통해 신뢰도 및 타당도를 분석했고, 다변량 분산분석(Multivariate Analysis of Variance)을 활용하여 참여자 들의 소비 행동을 비교 및 분석했다. [결과] 운동참여 동기와 관련해서 연령이 낮은 골퍼들의 경우 사교와 내적동 기에서 높은 결과가 나왔지만, 연령이 높은 골퍼들의 경우 건강동기에서 높은 결과를 보였다. 또한 운동재미와 관련해서는 연령이 낮은 그룹이 상대적으로 인식요인에서 높은 결과를 보였다. 추가적으로 주목할만한 점은 연령 과는 상관없이 모든 참여가 외적과시 동기요인에서 가장 높은 결과값을 나타냈다. [결론] 본 연구를 통해 연령에 따라 한국 사람들은 왜 골프를 즐기는가? 그리고 왜 골프가 재미있는가? 에 대한 의미 있는 결과를 도출했으며 전 연령대에서 높은 결과를 보인 외적과시 요인과 같은 한국골프산업만의 특징도 발견할 수 있었다.
