Mural paintings of ancient tombs of Goguryeo have a high-quality funeral culture of ancient times and Korean people. This is the pride of the Korean people and the formation of a positive world outlook. Therefore, it is understandable that the mural of the tomb not only understands the social customs of the times, but also the preceding studies show the physical and cultural identity and excellence of Goguryeo as a hegemonic state of the Korean people, who traveled not only to East Asia but also to the West. For example, Baekhee Gigiakdo of House Jangcheon No. 1, Dance Gun Dance and Huntingdo, Ssireodo of Gakchong, and Muakdo of Anak No. 3 are not only history of the people, but also various sports and cultural legacies. As such, the murals of Goguryeo tombs can be said to be the beginning of ancient physical education and treasure trove, and the historical heritage of mankind, and the interpretation of the cultural value of the ancient kingdom through its period of living and changing history should be highly evaluated. Therefore, it is required to re-ignite sports and cultural historical lighting mainly from the West as Korean and Oriental values, and comprehensively understand and establish through in-depth multidisciplinary research and cross-disciplinary research on each ancient tomb(walled painting).

고구려(高句麗)의 고분 벽화(古墳壁畵)는 고대(古代), 한국 민족의 수준 높은 장례(葬禮) 문화를 안고 있다. 이 것은 한국 민족의 자부심이며, 긍정적인 세계관의 형성이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이 무덤의 벽화는 시대적인 사회풍습 을 이해할 수 있음은 물론 선행연구들은 고구려가 동아시아는 물론 서역(西域)까지 왕래하였던 한국 민족의 패권국(霸 權國)으로서의 체육문화적인 정체성과 우수성을 증명해주는 내용을 담고 있음을 이해할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 집안장천1 호분(集安長川一號墳)의 백희기악도(白戱技樂圖), 무용총(舞踊塚)의 무용도(舞踊圖)와 수렵도(狩獵圖), 각저총(角 抵塚)의 씨름도(角抵圖), 안악3호분(安岳三號墳)의 무악도(舞樂圖) 등은 민족의 역사 뿐만 아니라 다양한 체육문화적 인 유산이라고 할 수 있다. 이와 같이 고구려 고분 벽화는 고대 체육의 시작이자 보물창고라고 할 수 있으며, 인류의 역사 적인 유산으로서의 사료와 그 시대적 생활상 및 변천사를 통한 체육문화적인 가치 해석은 높게 평가해야 할 것이다. 그 러므로 주로 서구에서 비롯된 체육문화사적인 조명을 한국 및 동양사적인 가치로서의 재조명이 요구되며, 각각의 고분 (벽화)에 관한 심층적인 다학문 연구와 교차학 연구를 통하여 종합적인 이해와 규명되어야 한다.
