Port plays an important role in the development of the national economy. Countries around the world are working to expand port facilities, such as the development of port facilities and the development and operation of hinterlands, in response to changes in the economic environment. In order to expand the port's original functions and enhance the competitiveness of port, it is necessary to develop and operate hinterlands and related-area development. Therefore, this study analyzed the changes in the container trade volume and the items of major ports in Korea, mainly in the domestic area, in order to develop the linkage development between the port and the region, and suggested that the planning and development of port and hinterland considering the change of local industrial structure is necessary.
