This study investigated the political ideologies and identity portrayed in Chongryon Korean language textbooks using CDA. The findings show that strong identity and attachment to North Korea are depicted. North Korea is described as an ideal place to visit, and doing volunteer work for North Korea is considered patriotic. Students are presented with a vision of growing into the children of North Korea. In addition, their loyalty to Chongryon schools is portrayed. Students are depicted as faithfully attending Chongryon schools, even if they live far away. Students have great pride in Choseon University, and are encouraged to help the Chongryon organization and their compatriots by visiting their local branches and facilities, such as counselling centers, as part of their extracurricular activities. The textbooks also praise the supreme roles of Kim Il Sung and state that students need to show their respect to him by visiting his birthplace, Mangyeondae.

이 논문은 비평적 담론 분석 방법을 사용하여 조총련의 국어교과서에 나타난 정치 이념과 정체성을 조사하였다. 분석 결과는 조총련의 정체성이 북한으로 치우쳐 있었고 북한에 대한 강한 소속감이 묘사되고 있는 것을 발견했다. 북한은 조총련 아동들이 방문해야 할 이상적인 장소로 묘사되었고 조총련 멤버들이 북한을 위해 자원봉사자로 일하는 것은 애국적인 행동으로 간주하고 있었다. 그리고 조총련의 아동들은 북한의 아동들로 자라는 비젼이 제시되고 있었다. 아울러 조총련 학교에 대한 그들의 강한 애착심이 묘사되고 있었다. 집에서 조총련 학교가 멀리 있어도 충성스럽게 조총련학교에 다니는 학생들의 모습을 그리고 있었다. 또한 학생들은 조총련이 세운 조선대학교에 대단한 자부심을 가지고 있으며 조총련의 산하기관과 동포들을 돕는 것을 강조하며 과외 활동으로 조총련이 운영하는 동포 생활상담소 지사를 방문하는 것을 기술하고 있었다. 마지막으로 조총련 교과서는 북한의 김일성을 찬양하고 있으며 그가 태어난 만경대를 방문하여 그에 대한 존중심을 갖도록 유도하고 있었다.
