The purpose of this study is to analyze the local spatial distribution and causes of the labor productivity gaps of cities and counties in Honam region. For this purpose, this study employed a shift-share method and a geographically weighted regression model used by Esteban (2000). In summary, the spatial distribution of the labor productivity gaps is confirmed by the high-high (HH) cluster pattern around Yeosu and Gwangyang. However, in the cities and counties, the majority of local cluster patterns did not appear. As a result of the geographical weighted regression analysis, it was found that the productivity gap was the main cause of the regional labor productivity gaps. Finally, in order to reduce the labor productivity gap in each city or county, we derived the first priority promotion policy through the average of industrial structure factor and productivity differentials based on the autonomous differential regression coefficients derived from the geographically weighted regression analysis.

본 연구는 호남권역의 자치구별 노동생산성 격차의 국지적 공간분포 및 원인을 분석 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 본 연구는 Esteban(2000)이 사용한 변이할당 (shift-share)방법과 지리적 가중회귀(Geographically weighted regression model)를 사용 하였다. 분석결과를 요약하면, 노동생산성 격차의 공간적 분포는 여수와 광양 주위가 High-High(HH)의 군집 패턴이 확인되었다. 그러나 그 외 지역은 국지적 군집 패턴이 대다수 나타내지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 지리적 가중회귀 분석결과, 지역별 노동 생산성 격차는 생산성 차이가 주요한 원인이라고 분석되었다. 마지막으로 각 지역별 노 동생산성 격차를 줄이기 위해서 지리적 가중회귀 분석에서 도출된 자치구별 회귀계수를 기준으로 산업구조 요인과 생산성차이 요인의 평균값을 통해 영역별 우선추진정책을 도출 하였다.
