This study intends to clarify orientation towards oneness (union) reflected in “Love’s silence (Nimui Chimmuk)” of Han Yong-un by associating it with Donghak thought. As for the research methods, firstly, they arebased on the analysis of the correlation between “Mosim” & principle of equality of Donghak and the poem “Love’s silence.” Secondly, they are based on the analysis of connection between “Salim” & recovery of life” and the poem “Love’s silence.” With this, it is possible to clarify that orientation towards oneness observed in “Love’s silence” is closely related to Donghak thoughts. As for the results of this study, firstly, “Love’s silence (Nimui Chimmuk)” expects that “I” should recognize the tragic reality where “my beloved one” is absent and the equality of relationship as a way to self-discipline based on “Mosim” should be recovered. Secondly, it wishes that “I” look forward to meeting “my beloved one” and aim at the recovery of fundamental life as a practical “way” based on “Salim.” The research results show: Firstly, the way to self-discipline for recovery of equality of “me” and “my beloved one” reflected in “Love’s silence (Nimui Chimmuk)” has a correlation with “Moshim” and principle of equality of all creatures observed in “Sicheon ideology” or “Heart of Heaven” of Donghak. Secondly, the practical act for recovery of life reflected in “Love’s silence “ is highly related to “Salim” which is the practical ethics of Donghak based on the concept of “serving people like the Heaven.” In this regard, orientation towards oneness shown in “Love’s silence” is considered a universal love for humanity beyond nationalism and a practical song wishing for recovery of equality of all creatures and restoration of fundamental life.

이 연구의 목적은 한용운의『 님의 침묵』에 나타난 합일지향성을 동학사상과 관련지어 밝혀내고자 하는 것이다. 이에 대한 연구 방법으로는,『 님의 침묵』의 작품을 중심으로 동학의 ‘모심’ 과 평등사상과의 연관성을 분석한다. 또 동학의 ‘살림’과 생명성 회복과의 연관성도 분석한다. 이로써『 님의 침묵』에 나타난 합일지향성과 동학사상과의연관성을 밝혀낼 수 있다. 이 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째,『 님의 침묵』의 ‘나’는 ‘님’이 부재한 비극적 현실을 인식하고, ‘모심’이라는 수양의 도(道)로써 관계의 평등성이 회복되기를 기대한다. 둘째, ‘나’는 ‘님’과의 만남을 고대하며 ‘살림’이라는 실천적도(道)로써 근원적 생명성이 회복되기를 지향한다. 연구 결과는 첫째『, 님의 침묵』에 나타난 평등성 회복을 위한 수양적 도(道) 는 시천주의 ‘모심’과 만물 평등사상과 연관됨을 알 수 있었다. 둘째,『 님의 침묵』에 나타난 생명성 회복을 위한 실천적 행위는 동학의 실천적 윤리인 사인여천의 ‘살림’ 과 연관됨을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 한용운의『 님의 침묵』에 나타난 합일지향성은 민족주의를 넘어선 보편적 인류애로서, 만물 평등 회복과근원적 생명성 회복에 대한 수양과 실천의 노래였다.
