In the 4th industrial revolution, one of the biggest topics for many futurists, along with drones, 3D printers and robots, is artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence(AI) is increasing the number of products and equipments that are based on artificial intelligence in our society such as AI speakers, smart apartments, and artificial intelligence appliances, and is becoming a key factor in drone, IoT, robot and unmanned vehicles. In May, the Presidential Committee for Fourth Industrial Revolution set a strategic goal of investing 2.2 trillion won over the next five years to promote the advancement of the world's four major AI powers, fostering AI man-power and building AI data. Even though the development and introduction of artificial intelligence-based equipments and systems is becoming an important national issue, the introduction and use of such AI-based equipment is still very limited in the field of maritime security and safety, and there is insufficient academic discussion yet. In this study we use SWOT analysis to build assesment strategy and find a way to introduce and implement artificial intelligence in the Korea Coast Gurad by analyzing the utilization and problems of artificial intelligence in domestic and foreign agencies including the National Police Agency, and the internal and external factors surrounding Korea Coast Guard

제4차 산업혁명시대를 맞아 최근 드론(Drone)이나 3D 프린터, 로봇(Robot) 등과 더불어 미래학자들의 가장 큰 화두 중의 하나는 인공지능(Artificial Intelligence)이다. 소프트웨어 의 일종인 인공지능이 오늘날 인공지능 스피커, 인공지능형 아파트, 인공지능 전자기기 등 우리사회에 인공지능에 기반을 둔 제품과 장비가 늘어나고 있으며, 드론, 사물인터넷, 로봇, 무인자동차 등의 핵심 요소가 되고 있다. 대통령 직속 4차산업혁명위원회는 지난 5월 향후 5년간 2.2조원을 투자하여 세계4대 AI 강국 도약, AI 인재육성 및 AI 데이터 구축 추진을 전략 목표로 의결한 바 있다. 이와 같이 인공지능에 기반을 둔 각종 장비와 시스템 개발과 도입이 중요한 국가적 이슈가 되고 있음에도 아직 해양경비･안전 등 해양 치안현장에서의 도입･운용은 미미한 실정이며, 이에 대한 학술적 논의도 미흡한 실정이다. 이 연구에서는 경찰청 등 국내외 기관에서의 인공지능 활용실태와 문제점 그리고 해양경찰을 둘러싼 내･외 부적 요인에 대한 SWOT 분석을 통해 추진전략을 도출하고 인공지능이 실제 해양경찰에 어 떻게 도입･운용될 수 있는지를 살펴보고자 한다.
