The purpose of this paper is to critically examine the necessity of unification emphasized in school unification education as a nationalist approach and a pragmatic approach in order to strengthen students' It is suggested from the perspective of the state. Nationalist approach and pragmatist approach are still recognized as a basis for meaningful reunification to the people and youth despite the limitations. However, unification education in moral education needs to understand unification from the point of view of pacifism and it needs to act as a dominant argument to recognize the necessity of unification of the value of peace. Based on these perspectives, we have proposed and complemented the achievement standards, content elements, and teaching and learning methods of the 2015 revised curriculum ‘Integrated Social Studies’.

이 글에서는 학생들의 통일의식을 강화하기 위해 학교 통일교육에서 강조되어 온 통일의 필요성 논거를 민족주의적 접근과 실용주의적 접근으로 구분하여 비판적으로 검토하고, 이를 토대로 통일 필요성 논거가 지향해야 할 방향을 평화주의적 관점에서 제안하였다. 민족주의 접근과 실용주의 접근은 일정한 한계를 내포하고 있음에도 불구하고 여전히 국민들과 청소년들에게 유의미한 통일 필요성 근거로 인식되고 있다. 다만, 도덕교육에서의 통일교육 장면에서는 평화주의 관점에서 통일이 이해될 필요가 있으며, 평화의 가치가통일 필요성을 인식시키는 지배적 논거로 작동할 필요가 있다. 이러한 관점을 기초로 2015 교육과정 『통합사회』의 성취기준과내용요소, 교수·학습 방법을 보완하여 제안해 보았다.
