Objective : This study aimed to investigate the degree and characteristics regarding the awareness of bioethics among the occupational therapists. Methods : This study used question set from a bioethical research by Kwon(2003) which was agreed with the author. A questionnaire was composed of 49 questions in 9 subitems regarding the general characteristics of the respondents and their bioethics. The questionnaires were distributed and returned in person or by mail. Except for the questionnaires lacking respondent integrity, 272 out of 293 questionnaires were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, an independent ttest, and a oneway ANOVA were conducted using SPSS 18.0. As for the posthoc test, Scheffe’s test was used. Results : Although the degree of bioethics awareness among the occupational therapists was higher than the median, they felt confused in making decisions because their ethical values were not established. In addition, they found difficulty in dealing with bioethical problems. Conclusion : This study is expected to serve as primary materials in developing a program that will establish sound bioethics awareness for occupational therapists.

목적 : 본 연구는 작업치료사의 생명윤리의식 정도와 특성을 알아보고자 실시하였다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 생명윤리와 관련하여 Kwon(2003)의 연구에서 사용한 설문지의 문항을 저자의 동의 받아 사용하였다. 설문지 내용은 대상자 일반적 특성과 생명윤리의식에 대한 9개 하위영역, 49개 문항으 로 구성하였다. 설문은 직접 또는 우편을 통해 배부하여 수거하였고 최종 배부된 293부 중 응답의 성실 성이 떨어지는 설문지를 제외하고 최종 272부를 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 이 용하여 기술통계, 독립표본 티검증, 일원배치분산분석, 사후검증은 쉐페검증으로 분석하였다. 결과 : 작업치료사들의 생명윤리의식은 중간보다 높은 수준이었으나, 윤리적 가치관이 확립되지 않아 의사 결정의 혼돈을 느끼고 있으며 생명윤리에 대한 문제로 갈등을 경험하였다. 결론 : 작업치료사의 올바른 생명윤리의식을 확립하기 위한 교육프로그램 개발의 기초자료로 사용 할 수 있 을 것이다.
