The Art Nouveau personality that pursues naturalness in the design of hair up-style can be recreated as a new design that brings out femininity element in combination with various forms coming to modern times, and this study aims to experiment creative functions with a hair up-style applying the Art Nouveau style’s artistic and diverse characteristics regarding smooth curves, asymmetrical structures, naturalistic and feminine elements which are seen in Art Nouveau style. Based on the theoretical background of the up-style using the formative beauty of Art Nouveau style, the work was made using the diversity of the expression technique, and when it comes to research method, firstly, the characteristics of the Art Nouveau style are examined by using previous researches and professional books. Second, it identifies and summarizes representative buildings of Art Nouveau style. Third, based on the theoretical background of up-style, four works are made by using diversity of expression technique. The results of this study are as follows. First, it combines the Art Nouveau features with the hair style to create a beautiful curved shape using waves, freely flowing lines, and suitable for expressing up-style asymmetrically. Second, up-style was presented with the motif of artistic ideology in art creation and Art Nouveau style art which can satisfy the high needs of consumers by utilizing various expressive techniques of up-style having an organic line which is the most prominent feature of Art Nouveau as a motif. Third, the four types of works presented above show works that make an elegant and gorgeous sense of femininity element sensibility by combining organic curves, flowing shapes and asymmetrical structure which are characteristic of Art Nouveau style to up-style. The artistic ideology’s characteristics of Art Nouveau style was suggested through up-style design creation and the four types of works are interpreted into the work that creates an elegant and colorful femininity sensibility by bringing the characteristics of Art Nouveau style and applying into up-style. In the future, more Art Nouveau studies should be done while various creative activities meet with the art of the past in modernized works with colorful and various color contrast and asymmetric structure which are characteristics of Art Nouveau style, by expanding the style.

헤어 업스타일 디자인에 있어서 자연스러움을 추구하는 아르누보(art nouveau)적 성격은 현대에 와서 다양한 형태와 결합하여 여성스러움을 부각시키는 새로운 디자인으로 재창조 될 수 있으며, 본 연구는 아르누보 양식에서 보여지는 부드러운 곡선, 비대칭적인 구조, 자연주의 적이고, 여성적인 요소를 예술적이고 다양한 아르누보 양식 특성을 응용한 헤어 업스타일로 창의적 기능을 실험해 보고자 목적이 있다. 아르누보 양식의 조형미를 응용한 업스타일의 이론적 배경을 기초로 표현기법의 다양성을 활용해 작품을 제작하였으며, 연구방법으로는 첫째, 선행연구와 전문서적을 이용해 아르누보(art nouveau) 양식의 특징을 고찰한다. 둘째, 아르누보(art nouveau) 양식의 대표적인 건축물을 알아보고 정리 한다. 셋째, 업스타일의 이론적 배경을 기초로 표현기법의 다양성을 활용해 4개의 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 헤어스타일에도 아르누보(art nouveau) 특징을 접목하여 웨이브를 이용한 아름다운 곡선 모양을 만들고, 선을 자유롭게 흐르게 하며, 비대칭으로 업스타일을 표현하기에는 적합하였다. 둘째, 아르누보(art nouveau)의 가장 두드러진 특성인 유기적인 선을 모티브로 한 업스타일의 다양한 표현기법을 활용하여 고급화된 소비자의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 디자인 창작과 아르누보 양식의 예술사적인 이념을 모티브로 업스타일을 제시하였다. 셋째, 위에서 제시한 4가지 형태의 작품은 아르누보(art nouveau) 양식의 특징인 유기적 곡선, 물결이 흐르는 모양, 비대칭의 구조를 업스타일에 접목하여 우아하고 화려한 여성적 감성을 느끼게 하는 작품을 제시하였다. 아르누보 양식의 예술사적인 이념의 특성을 업스타일 디자인 창작을 제시 하였으며, 4가지 형태의 작품은 아르누보 양식의 특징을 살려 업스타일에 접목, 창작하여 우아하고 화려한 여성적 감성을 느끼게 하는 작품으로 해석 하였다. 향후 스타일을 확장시켜 아르누보 양식 특성인 화려하고 다양한 컬러의 대비와 비대칭적인 구조로 다양한 창조 활동이, 현대화 된 작품 속에서 과거의 예술과 만나는 계기가 되어 더 많은 아르누보 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
