- The ‘mirror’ in the literary work has been a good literary material in East and West from classics to modern and contemporary literature. Akutagawa Ryunosuke in his short stories, props and poem has frequently used the ‘mirror.’ The ‘mirror’ holds an important meaning in the faith and the legend of Japan. It is being used literary as the material of Narcissism falling for one's own image reflected in the water. And to Akutagawa the ‘mirror’ is a very important symbolic expression. However, there was no opportunity to analyze the relevance with the other works of Akutagawa. In this study, it aims to note the role of the ‘mirror’ in the literary of Akutagawa by expanding the region to the props, poem and novel of Akutagawa. In addition, it has significance in analyzing the detailed meaning of the ‘mirror’ in the literary.
