In this research, we analyzed the characteristics of the Korean dance performance appearing in the international cultural exchange, and derived the following results for the positive effect on the reconsidering image of 'Culture Korea' and the globalization of the Korean dance in the future. First, according to the dance company size, Individual dance company performed the Korean traditional dance more than other dance genre, while Group dancing company did the Korean creative dance than others. Second, according to the purpose of the performance, Individual dance company mainly participated in world folk dance festivals in the Europe region, and preformed the traditional dance mostly, while only few the Korean creative dance. But, the Group dance company performed the Korean creative dance mostly for collaboration among countries for the cultural exchange rather than emphasizing the traditionality. Third, according to the performance type, Individual dance company preferred the Korean traditional dance showing traditionality and ethnicity, while Group dance company mostly performed the Korean creative dance choreographed with the Korean dance technique as well as universal dance technique for the collaboration among counties.

본 연구는 국외에서 공연되는 국제춤교류 활동을 통한 한국무용 공연 특성을 분석하여 동시대 공연예술의 흐름 을 이해하고 향후 해외 한국무용 공연의 추진 방향에 대한 시사점을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2011년부터 2015년까지 국제 춤교류 활동을 최소 2회 이상 다녀 온 무용가 12명을 대상으로 공연 목적, 인원, 유형 등의 관련 자료 를 수집하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 21.0ver를 통하여 기술통계와 교차분석, t-검증, 이원변량분석을 시행하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째 무용단 규모에 따른 공연특성은 개인무용단의 경우 전통무용 공연이 많았고 단체무용단은 창작무용 공연이 많았다. 둘째 무용단의 공연 목적에 따른 공연 특성은 개인무용단의 경우 유럽지역의 세계민속무용축제에 주로 참가하 면서 전통춤 공연이 많은 비중을 차지하고 있었으며, 창작공연은 적었다. 단체무용단은 문화교류의 목적으로 참가하는 경우가 많았으며, 전통성을 강조하기보다 는 국가 간 융합할 수 있는 창작무용 공연이 많았다. 셋째, 무용단 공연유형에 따른 공연 특성은 개인무용단의 경우 전통성과 민속성이 나타난 전통무용을 선호하고 단체무용단은 양국이 소통할 수 있는 한국적이면서도 보편적 춤기법을 살린 창작무용이 주로 공연되는 특성을 알 수 있었다.
