The U.S. security regulation is under the influence of each state’s law; however, they are mostly simil ar. Among many states which has the longest history of security regulation in the U.S., state of New Y ork has been shown security regulation for a long time. The state of New York has been emphasized th e importance of security significantly because it is economically, culturally, and internationally important place at the same time. New York’s state law of security business includes: 1. private investigators and bail enforcement agents and watch, guard or patrol agencies license law. 2. Security guard act of 1992~, 3. Title 19 New York State’s code of rules and regulation (NYCRR). The law of New York City’s privat e security could inspire Korean private security law in many ways. First, administration of professional l aw and variety of licensure could be an inspiration to the Korean security services. Second, there are int imate partnership between police and private security in the U.S. New York police’s private security part nership has been started since 1986 by Area Police/Private Security Liaison (APPL program) and there a re about 1,300 of security companies participating. This program provides not only the simple partnershi p but also giving essential information for promoting public safety.

뉴욕주에는 미국에서 가장 큰 도시인 뉴욕이 있으며 특히 9·11테러사태 이후 안전은 뉴욕 시민 모두에게 가장중요한 사안이라 시큐리티에 관심이 높은 곳이다. 본 연구목적은 뉴욕주의 민간경비 관련 법령을 분석하고 평가하여 한국에 접목할 수 있는 시사점을 찾아서제시하는 것이다. 시사점은 첫째, 전문 법규의 운영과 다양한 자격제도이다. 둘째, 밀접한 민·관 협력 연계이다. 셋째, 전문적인 경비업단체의 활동이다.
