This study is based on qualitative research, which aims for investigating the improvement plan of Taekwondo Poomsae Game Culture, adopted in-depth interview—a typical example of qualitative research method—for the study and drew a conclusion as follows: First, there is a desperate need for coaches’ awareness of problems such as athletes’ injuries, excessive reproach, abusive language, and physical violence resulting from the overflow of ‘win-at-all-costs philosophy.’ Second, coaches need self-reflection about their vocational misconduct such as competition result manipulation, dissemination of false information, excessive reprimand on opposing team members and coaches. Third, Taekwondo Poomsae Game Culture must be enhanced through procuring diversity, originality, and novelty based on the active adoption of Free Poomsae. Traditional Poomsae stuck in preexisting framework and guidance led to distrust on referees due to the lack of indisputable score distinction and immoderate subdivision of game rules. Fourth, far more impartial referee assignment and Poomsae Game Culture for athletes themselves must be accepted for the enhancement of Poomsae Game Culture. Referees must be assigned in matches and competition based on collected information of their working area and alma mater for unbiased referee decision, and Poomsae Game Culture respecting the importance of enhancing athletes’ match environment and referees’ decision should be settled immediately.

이 연구는 태권도 품새 경기문화의 제고(提高)방안을 탐색해보기 위한 질적 연구로서, 대표적인 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 심층면담 방법을 사용하여 연구를 진행한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 승리지상주의의 만연으로 인한 선수들의 상해와 과도한 질책, 욕설, 폭행 등은 지도자들의 문제인식이 매우 필요하다. 둘째, 일부 지도자 들의 승부조작 및 허위사실 유포, 상대 팀 및 심판에 대한 비난과 야유 등은 지도자들 스스로 자기성찰의 노력이 필요하 다. 셋째, 자유품새의 적극적 도입으로 채점의 다양성 및 변별력, 독창성, 신선함 등의 확보를 통해 경기문화 제고(提高) 에 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다. 틀에 짜여진 품새는 변별력의 부족과 경기규칙의 세분화로 심판불신을 초래한다. 넷째, 더욱 공정한 심판 배정과 선수들을 위한 경기문화가 정착되어야 한다. 공정한 심판 판정을 위해 심판의 개인데이터 수집 을 하여 활동지역, 출신학교 등이 다른 심판들로 고른 배정의 시도가 필요하며, 선수들을 위한 경기환경 개선 및 심판 판정을 존중하는 경기문화의 정착이 시급하다.
