This study is designed to examine the effect of discrimination on aggressive behavior in North Korean defector youth and the mediating effect of depression in it. This researcher selected North Korean defector youth (elementary school fifth & sixth graders and middle and high school students) attending accredited North Korean defectors’ schools located in Busan, Seoul, and Gyeonggi and surveyed them to collect data. The results can be summed up as follows: North Korean adolescent defectors’ discriminative experience influences their depression and aggressive behavior, and depression influences aggressive behavior directly. Also, North Korean adolescent defectors’ discriminative experience mediates depression and influences aggressive behavior indirectly as well. Through discussion on the results, this author presents detailed implications to prevent North Korean adolescent defectors’ aggressive behavior.

본 연구는 북한이탈청소년이 경험하는 차별이 공격행동에 미치는 영향 및 우울의 매개효과를 규명하기 위해 설계되었으며, 이를 위해 부산, 서울, 경기도 소재 교육인가 탈북학교에 재학 북한이탈청소년(초등5, 6학년, 중․고등학교)을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 분석에 활용된 195부는 SPSS와 AMOS 통계 프로그램을 통해 기초통계와 가설검증이 이루어졌다. 주요 연구결과로는 북한이탈청소년의 차별경험은 우울과 공격행동에, 우울은 공격행동에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 북한이탈청소년의 차별경험은 우울을 매개하여 공격행동에 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과에 대한 논의를 통해 북한이탈청소년의 공격행동을 예방하기 위한 구체적인 제언이 이루어졌다.
