This paper reexamines two topics, Korea’s anti-Japan sentiment and the reconciliation of the history, in search of the solutions for the historical conflicts in order to overcome the ‘unhappy’ history between Korea and Japan. First of all, I believe that, within Korea’s anti- Japan sentiment, there is a sense of ambivalence and contradiction, as well as the desire and the logical admiration toward Japan. In other words, the anti-Japan sentiment evolves from the dualistic nature of trust and distrust, as well as love and hatred, toward the neighboring country. In essense, these conceptions are to encourage Japan to criticize and reflect her own negative legacies. Secondly, I will argue that the ultimate goal of the anti-Japan sentiment lies in its implosion. Therefore, Japan must consider it as a chance, rather than as a problematic issue, in order for the “generative” dialogue to take place between the two countries. To reconcile with the historical issues is a process through which the two nations make a journey together. We need apology and forgiveness, as well as the heartful desire for a true reconciliation. In doing so, all the factors that cause this disharmony must be deconstructed and annihilated. In this process, we need to think three-dimensionally in order to create harmony, rather than being overwhelmed by the dualistic/dichotomic way of thinking. Above all, the goal of reconciliation is to hold the ‘transversal’ and ‘commensurable’ morality in common. The first category of this morality is anti-colonialism, i.e. the deconstruction of colonialism. And we also have to overcome the ghost of the past, the curse of the modernity, modernism, and egocentrism. Lastly, I suggest several issues and methods for reconciliation, whicn include: the deconstruction of the traditional tendancy to “erace” Korea; the reinterpretation of the agreements related to ‘Korean Annexation’; the actions to be taken in order to discharge responsibility for the colonial rule; the solutions for the “divided peninsula” and the overcoming of the Cold-War ideology; and the construction of the East Asian Community.

본 논문은 한일 간의 역사문제를 풀고 ‘불행한 역사’를 극복할 방법을 탐구하기 위해 ‘반일과 역사 화해’라는 문제를 재고하고 있다. 먼저 반일 속엔 양의적이자 모순된 성 향과 일본을 향한 욕망과 조리가 담겨 있다고 본다. 달리 말해 반일은 일본에 대한 신 뢰/불신과 애증의 양면감정에서 생긴 성향인 것이다. 그 진정성은 일본의 부(負)의 유 산에 대한 비판・성찰을 촉구하는 일에 있다. 다음으로 반일의 궁극 목표는 반일의 내 파에 있다. 따라서 일본은 반일을 문제가 아닌 찬스로 삼아 그것과의 ‘생성적’ 대화를 위해 노력해야 한다. 역사 화해란 가해국과 피해국이 역사 극복의 도정을 함께 걷는 과정이다. 거기엔 사죄 와 용서, 그리고 마음과 뜻의 화해가 필요하다. 이로써 죄와 불화 요인을 해체하고 제 거해 나가야 한다. 이 과정에서 이원・이항대립 사고는 초극되어야 한다. 그 대신 화에 바탕을 둔 삼원사고와 그 논리가 필요하다. 무엇보다 역사 화해의 목표는 ‘횡단매개적 이자 공약가능한’ 도리의 공유에 있다. 그 도리의 첫 범주는 ‘반식민주의’, 즉 식민주의 의 해체이다. 이와 함께 과거의 망령과 근대의 주박, 근대주의와 자기/자국중심주의 등도 해체해야 한다. 마지막으로 역사 화해의 현안과 방법으로서 ‘한(韓) 지우기’ 전통 의 해체, ‘한국병합’ 관련조약의 해석, 식민지 지배 책임의 실천, 남북분단의 해소와 냉 전사고의 탈피, 동아시아 공동체의 구축 등을 제안한다.
