As there is mounting evidence that honeybee produces public values in various fields, such as economic, ecological, and industrial sectors, our society sheds new light on it. The purpose of this study is to investigate factors for developing honeybee industry as well as explore management activities of farmers. To accomplish goals of the study a beekeeper survey was administerd by both mail and face-to face interview, and the multinomial logit model was employed. Results show that most of beekeepers have taken an education related to beekeeping, and three in five beekeepers sale their bee products mostly to acquaintance including relatives, friends and neighbors. It was demonstrated that beekeepers who have a longer career tend to relatively emphasize on improvement of hardware aspects for progressing honeybee industry, such as diversification of bee plants. On the other hand beekeepers who have annual income less than 30million won and a high level of skill in management activities are apt to put an value for overcoming problems in software aspects, such as promoting a superior breed and full-time beekeepers.

본 연구는 전국단위에서 양봉농가의 경영활동을 파악하고, 양봉산업의 성장을 위한 다양한 대안들 가운데 생산·유통 부문에 집중하여 성장 요인을 추적하였다. 농가의 양봉경력이 오래될수록 양봉산업 성장을 위해 소프트웨어적 개선보다는 하드웨어적 개선의 필요성을 인식하는 것으로 분석되었다. 반면에 경영관리 기술수준이 높고, 소득이 3천만 원 미만인 농가는 소프트웨어적 문제점 극복에 가치를 두고 있다. 응답자가 남성일 때 비교위험도를 살펴보면 기본범주 대비 선택범주 비중이 매우 높아 하드웨어적 개선의 필요성을 절감하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 특히 밀원수 부족을 양봉업이 직면한 가장 큰 어려움으로 지적하는 농가가 기본 범주에 비해 밀원수 다양화 및 식재 확대를 선택할 확률은 성별변수를 제외하고 가장 높았다.
