This study investigates the gender differences in the actual usage of smartphone applications among middle school students using empirical data. The log records were collected from 199 students 128 who agreed to answer smartphone use management application research questions, male and 71 female. First, while the total number of applications used is higher for females, the total usage time is higher for males. Second, as a result of content usage ratio, males appeared in the order of tool/productivity, social, game content, and so on. Likewise, Female's social, tools/productivity, photo content, and so on. Third, males use games, video players/editors, and cartoon content for a longer time than females in a day. On the other hand, females use money, lifestyle, photography, social, entertainment, music and audio, information gathering, and reference content more than males in a day.

본 연구는 중학생들의 스마트폰 애플리케이션 실제 사용행태와 관련해 실증적 데이터를 이용해 성별의 차이를 알아보고 자 하였다. 사용관리 애플리케이션 조사에 동의한 학생 199명을 대상으로 로그 기록을 수집하였으며, 남성은 128명, 여성 은 71명이었다. 첫째, 애플리케이션당 일일 사용횟수는 여성이 많은 반면, 일일 사용시간은 남성이 더 길었다. 둘째, 콘텐츠 별 사용비율을 살펴본 결과 남성은 도구/생산성, 소셜, 게임 콘텐츠 등의 순으로 나타났고, 여성은 소셜, 도구/생산성, 사진 콘텐츠 등의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 남성은 게임, 동영상 플레이어/편집기, 만화 콘텐츠를 하루에 여성보다 더 많이 긴 시간 사용한 반면, 여성은 돈벌기, 라이프스타일, 사진, 소셜, 엔터테인먼트, 음악 및 오디오, 정보수집 및 참고자료 콘텐츠를 하루에 남성보다 더 많이 긴 시간 사용하였다.
