The purpose of this study is to understand the process of “Do not ask crime” discourse construction. In order to achieve this, the study selected a ‘Gangnam station murder case’ and analyzed the discourse related to this murder case that how the discourse constructed and what causes after the discourse constructed. The result of the study is as follows. After “Do not ask crime”, the media reported the murder case, and the public heard the media. In this process the “Do not ask crime” discourses are constructed. It influenced on the social organization that they made some solutions. Overall, the discourse are constructed by ‘media’, ‘the public’, and ‘social organization’. This three agents interaction with each other. Then the ‘do not ask crime’ discourse are constructed and the discourse forms a knowledge. And it affects our understanding and behavior. It also influences on our perspective, so the public bring another issues based in the formed perspective. This study suggests some improvements. First, it should analyze the social structure by gathering the formed discourses of ‘do not ask crime’. Second, it should provide the plan of ‘do not ask crime’ on the social structure layer, not discourse layer. Third, it should conduct more specific critical discourse analysis on ‘do not ask crime’.

본 연구의 목적은 묻지마 범죄를 둘러싼 담론의 형성 과정에 관해 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 최근 일어난 강남역 화장실 살인사건을 사례로 담론이 어떻게 형성되었는지를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 묻지마 범죄 사건 이후 언론은 사건에 관한 보도를 하고, 대중들은 이러한 언론을 접하면서 담론을 형성해 나갔다. 그리고 언론과 대중의 논의 속에서 형성된 묻지마 범죄 담론은 사회 기관에도 영향을 미쳐 각종 대책 마련에도 영향을 미쳤다. 정리하면 담론 형성은 ‘언론 미디어’, ‘대중’, ‘사회 기관’이라는 주체 하에 ‘-이라 불린다’는 목소리를 형성한다. 그리고 묻지마 범죄 담론은 이에 관한 지식을 형성하고 이것이 우리의 사고와 행동양식에 영향을 미친다. 이렇게 형성된 지식과 행동양식의 변화는 다른 사건을 보는 관점에도 영향을 미쳐 사회 구조에 내재한 문제들을 제기하는데도 영향을 미친다. 본 연구의 제안점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 묻지마 범죄 사건 이후 형성된 담론들을 종합하여 사회 구조를 분석해볼 필요가 있다. 둘째, 묻지마 범죄에 대한 대책은 사회 구조적인 측면에서 마련될 필요가 있다. 셋째, 본 연구에서는 제한된 미디어를 활용하여 분석했지만 향후에는 보다 다양한 언론 미디어를 활용하여 시대마다 ‘묻지마 범죄’의 개념이 어떻게 변화했고 ‘묻지마 범죄’의 가해자를 바라보는 시선의 변화는 어떠한지 등을 총체적으로 분석할 필요가 있다.
