- Cape No.7 and Seediq Bale, which are filmed by Taiwanese director, Wei Te‐Sheng. Cape No.7 was one of the biggest box‐office hits. The film has even becomea cultural phenomenon in Taiwan. His second film, Seediq Bale not only referredthe conflicting factors in Taiwanese sensitivity to politics and history, but alsoprovided some aspects of the nationalities, ethnic groups, languages, gender differences,age differences problems in Taiwan. This paper intends to examine why a film director like Wei tried not to avoidsocially and historically controversial topics. Also, based on textual analysis, examinesthe representation of the multicultural coexistence and discrimination in his films.
