This is a case study on the establishment of configuration management systems by company A, one of the companies in Korean defense industry, to analyze the progress and performance of its building of configuration management systems. The purpose of this study is to help another companies to perform benchmarking or comparative analysis with other companies afterwards when they try to build or promote a new configuration management system. Company A promoted the establishment of its configuration management systems in order to secure its products’ traceability, consistency, and integrity, realize corporate synchronization for its product data, increase design reuse, and minimize rework cost. Considerations in the establishment include legacy system connection, development tools connection, or data migration. And the process of building a configuration management system consisted of the following steps: defining system demands, selecting solution companies, conducting system design/realization, performing integrated tests and pilot testing, and opening a configuration management system. With this process, Company A devised its configuration management system with eight intensive modules: portals and indicators management, product registration and tailoring, EBOM/CAD/development & purchase connection, configuration data management, SW configuration management, component information management, configuration alteration control, and electronic drawing distribution. As a result of building this configuration management system, Company A could improve both discrimination and traceability through centralized integration of all kinds of technical materials, data loss prevention, connected data management, and management of new editions. Also, Company A could reduce its cost up to 1.54 billion won each year with electronic distribution, technical data integration, alteration control, payment connection, SW configuration management, CAD-BOM connection, and system alternatives.

본 연구는 국내 방위산업체인 A사의 형상관리시스템 구축에 따른 사례연구를 통하여 형상관리시스템 구축의 추진경과 및 그 성과를 분석함으로써 후발기업에서 새로이 형상관리시스템을 구축하거나 구축을 추진 할 경우 타 기업들이 비교분석이나 벤치마킹을 할 수 있도록 하였다. A사는 제품의 추적성, 일관성, 무결성의 확보와 제품 데이터의 기업 동기화, 설계 재사용 증대 및 비품질 비용(Rework) 최소화를 확보하고자 형상관리시스템 구축을 추진하였으며, 구축 시 고려사항으로는 레거시(Legacy) 시스템 연계, 개발도구 연계, 데이터 마이그레이션(migration) 등이 고려되었고, 형상관리시스템 구축과정은 시스템 요구사항 정의, 솔루션(solution) 업체선정, 시스템 설계/구현, 통합시험 및 시범적용, 형상관리 시스템 개통의 단계로 진행하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 A사는 형상관리시스템을 포털 및 지표관리, 제품등록 및 테일러링, EBOM/CAD/개발구매 연계, 형상자료관리, 소프트웨어 형상관리, 부품정보관리, 형상변경통제, 도면 전자배포의 8개 중점 모듈로 구성 하였다. 이러한 형상관리시스템의 구축 결과로 A사는 각종 기술 자료의 중앙 집중 통합과 자료 유실 방지, 자료 연계 관리, 최신본의 관리를 통해 식별성, 추적성을 향상 시켰으며, 전자배포, 기술자료 통합, 변경통제, 결재 연계, 소프트웨어 형상관리, CAD-BOM연계, 시스템 대체로써 연 15.4억 원의 절감 효과를 가져 올 수 있었다.
