In the research on industry security, public awareness of industry security has been commonly mentioned. Many industry security studies point out that lack of public awareness of industry security is one of the major problems of industry security. Thus, enhancing public awareness on industry security is essential for industry security. The current study investigated the public's perceptions of industry security and its effects on the importance of awareness of related law, the seriousness of outflow of industry technique, the importance of industry security, the significance of role of relevant agency, and the necessity of cultivating professional manpower. Research findings are (1) public awareness of industry security is low, (2) government agencies related to industry security doesn't fulfill its roles, and (3) public awareness of industry security positively influences support for the industry security policies. Based on research findings, three policy implications are presented to strengthen industry security. First, public education is needed to enhance public understanding of industry security. Second, the roles of Industry Security Protection Center of National Intelligence Service(NIS), and KAITS need to be enhanced. Third, in order to reinforce public awareness of industry security, various channels for access to this issue need to be identified.

대부분의 산업보안 연구들에서 일반 국민들의 산업보안 인식은 자주 언급되고 있다. 산업보안 연구에서 일반 국민들의 인식 부족은 산업보안 문제점의 중요한 원인이며, 더불어 일반 국민들의 인식 향상은 산업보안의 중요한 대책이다. 이 연구는 일반 국민들의 산업보안 인식을 조사하여 관련 법률 인식의 필요성, 산 업기술 유출의 심각성, 산업보안의 중요성, 관련 기관 역할의 중요성, 전문 인력 양성의 필요성 등 산업보안정책 지지에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 분석한 결과에 의하면 ① 일반 국민들의 산업보안 인식이 저조하며, ② 산업 보안 관련 정부기관들이 제대로 역할을 못하고 있으며, ③ 일반 국민들의 산업 보안 인식은 산업보안정책 지지에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 산업보안을 강화하기 위한 대책을 제시하면 ① 일반 국민들을 대상으로 산업보안에 대한 인식을 향상시키며, ② 국가정보원 산업기밀보호센터 와 한국산업기술보호협회의 활동을 강화해야 하며, ③ 일반국민들이 산업보안에 대해 자주 접할 수 있도록 다양한 접촉경로를 모색해야 한다.
