National Hangeul Museum was opened in October 2014 as the specialized museum of scripts and characters. The Museum provides educational programs to promote communication and shared culture between the generations based on Hangeul. Since its opening, the Museum has managed the communication program “Hangeul Exploration in Nature”. The program embodies three purposes: improving children’s emotional stability, enriching children’s experience of Hangeul through hands-on activities, and strengthening family bonding. Teaching-learning and linguistic education are combined in the program. The teaching-learning method is carried out through various activities of recreational gymnastics, walking, painting, and observing natural objects. The linguistic education is provided by introducing children to color words, mimetic words and onomatopoeia; therefore, this program is designed to amplify children’s interest in Hangeul and encourage communication between parents and their children.
