This study is meant to provide basic data for the castle restoration of in JEJU. The 13尺(module) define the height of the castle walls of Jeonguihyeonseong overt recorded in the literature, is 3.1~3.9m height of the existing castle walls, except for the battlement. The average(yongcheok) of Jeju Jeonguihyeonseong belonging to Jeollado appear to 39.57cm. The battlement of the Joseon Dynasty castle is the height of approximately 2~3 degrees, and leave approximately every one transvestite 5~6尺(module). The existing height of the castle wall of Jeju Jeonguihyeonseong is 3.8~3.9m. The castle walls height of Jeonguihyeonseong recorded in old literature is 13尺(module). The height of the existing castle walls is 3.9m and the height of the castle walls 10尺(module). Therefore, The average(yongcheok) is 39㎝. The round the castle walls is recorded in 2,980~2,986尺(module) most of the literature history. In most of the literature except for some literature, the height of the castle walls is recorded as 13尺(module). Assuming the castle walls height of Jeonguihyeonseong overt defined as 13尺(module), it is a 5.14m or 5.15m height defined overt Castle. Assuming the height of battlement is 2.5尺(module), it is 98.93㎝ or 99.13㎝. Therefore, it is possible to obtain an average value of about 90㎝. The battlements do not have the remains in Jeju Island, difficult to scale tracking. However, look at the photos of Jejueupseong consists of the battlement and the embattled molding.

본 연구는 제주도내 성곽 복원을 위한 기초 자료를 제시하는데 의미가 있다. 문헌에 기록된 정의현성 성곽의 높이는 13尺이며, 여장을 제외한 현존 성곽의 높이는 3.1～3.9m이다. 전라도에 속한 제주 정의현성의 평균치(용척)는 39.57cm로 나타나고 있다. 조선시대 성곽의 여장들은 대략 높이 2～3척 정도이며, 대략 5～6척 마다 하나의 여장을 두고 있다. 현존하는 정의현성 체성의 높이는 3.8〜3.9m이다. 고문헌에 기록된 정의현성의 높이가 13척이다. 현존하는 성곽(체성) 높이가 3.9m이다. 성곽(체성)의 높이가 10척이다. 그러므로 용척은 39㎝이다. 성곽의 둘레는 문헌기록에는 대부분 2,980～2,986척으로 기록되어 있다. 성곽의 높이는 일부 문헌을 제외한 대부분의 문헌에서 13척으로 기록되어 있다. 정의현성 성곽의 높이를 13척으로 가정하면, 정의현성 성곽의 높이는 5.14 또는 5.15m가 된다. 여장의 높이를 2.5척으로 가정하면, 여장의 높이는 98.93㎝ 또는 99.13㎝가 된다. 그러므로 약 90㎝의 평균치를 얻을 수 있다. 여장은 제주도에 남아있는 유구가 없어 규모 추정이 어렵다. 그러나 제주읍성의 사진 속 여장을 보면 타구와 타첩으로 이루어져 있다.
