Senior center is to provide cultural education and leisure activity for the aged. The purpose of this study is to provide preliminary data needed for architectural design on senior center based on the analysis from its user needs and actual condition of use in senior centers. The study methodology aims to draw conclusive understanding of users' satisfaction level and requests regarding management of facility, special configuration and scale, contents of program and location from photographing, dimensional survey, observation, staff interviews and user interviews on 296 subjects (male 152, female 144) with regard to prepared checklist. These surveys mentioned above are based on 6 research subject facilities (Daegu 3, Kyungbuk 3) selected among 27 facilities from the consideration on their located area and establishment year.

노인복지관은 노인의 여가활동과 사회교육활동을 제공하기 위한 시설이다. 본 연구의 목적은 노인복지관의 이용실태와 이용요구를 분석하여 노인복지관의 공간계획에 필요한 기초자료를 마련하는 것이다. 연구의 방법은 현지답사에 의한 사진촬영, 실측, 관찰, 시설직원과의 면담 그리고 시설의 이용자 296명(남152, 여144)을 대상으로 개별면접에 의한 설문조사 등을 통하여 시설의 관리운영, 이용공간의 구성 및 규모, 이용프로그램의 내용과 장소 그리고 시설이용에 대한 만족도와 이용요구 등을 조사․파악한다. 실태조사는 시설의 소재지역과 설립연도를 고려하여 대구․경북지역의 27개 시설 중 6개 시설(대구3, 경북3)을 조사대상시설로 선정하였다.
