This research is designed to analyze and evaluate the research trend of Korea on US-Chinese relations around the issues such as ‘the future of US-Chinese relations’ and ‘the response of Korea’. After synthesizing the results of analysis, most of researchers apprehend ‘the future of US-Chinese relations’ as the complex relation that cooperation and conflict coexist and especially ‘conflict-dominated cooperation’ relation. On ‘the response of Korea’, most of researchers think that Korea should take the position of ‘balancing with US and China, especially the US dominated’, highlight the balancing with China, and suggest the active alternative. Generally speaking, the perspective of most of Korean researchers seems to be well-balanced, but there are several problems in their research. Those are the ambiguity of perspective, the lack of explanation on the mechanism of US-Chinese relations, the ambiguity of balancing in Korea's establishing relationship with the US and China, the normative alternatives and so on.

이 연구는 시진핑 체제 등장 이후 미중관계에 대한 국내의 연구동향을 ‘미중관계의 미래’와 이에 대한 ‘한국의 대응’이라는 쟁점을 중심으로 분석하고 평가하는데 목적이 있다. 그 분석 결과를 종합해보면, 대부분의 연구자들은 ‘미중관계의 미래’에 대해 협력과 갈등이 병존하는 복합적 관계로 보면서, 특히 ‘갈등 우위의 협력’ 관계라고 보고 있다. ‘한국의 대응’과 관련해서는 ‘미국 중심의 중국과의 균형’을 취하되 중국과의 균형을 강조하면서 적극적인 대안제시를 하는 입장이 다수의 입장이었다. 전체적으로 본다면 한국의 연구자들이 취하고 있는 입장은 매우 균형 잡힌 것으로 보이지만, 몇 가지 고려되어야할 점들이 있었다. 입장의 모호성, 미중관계의 협력과 갈등의 메카니즘에 대한 설명 부족, 한국의 미국 및 중국과의 관계 설정에 있어 균형의 모호성, 당위론적 대안 등이 그러한 것들이다.
