- Liuzhongyan balanced and adjusted the relation of the law and proprieties, showing a tendency to respect the law in his the paper of refuting revenge. The idea and tendency exhibited the direction of the cultural transition after The mid-Tang Dynasty. This can be proved by his other related articles. His heroic stories gave prominence to the intrinsic spirit of them against abuse to violence. The think is accordant with his character and temperament of regard of warriors and intellect, which is a background of understanding revenge legendary in Tang dynasty. The narrative structure of revenge legendary after mid-Tang Dynasty were influenced by the tendency, which explaining the rationality of revenge through narrating origin ,and raising the legal authority through narrating that the best end is to report office. These all showing the relation between the narrative structure in a novel and the ideas of a narrator.

- 柳宗元≪驳复仇议≫一文对礼与法的冲突进行了平衡，表现出对尊重法律的倾向。这一观念与倾向显示了中唐之后唐代文化转型的运势。柳宗元相关作品即可印证这一点，其对侠客与英雄的叙述多重其内在精神，反对滥施暴力，这一思想与柳宗元自己尚侠重理的精神品格与气质也是一致的。这些可作为认识唐人豪侠精神的一个思想背景。中唐之后复仇传奇的叙述结构受到这一倾向的影响，多以叙述事因以说明复仇的合理性，并以“报官”作为复仇之“正果”，提升了法律的权威性，显示了小说的叙述结构与叙述者精神理念的关系。
