Even though the number of pet animal and breeder are increasing, there is little study related to the funeral of pet animal in Korea. In this paper, the factors affecting pet animal's funeral is conducted based on the survey. The study proves that the awareness of the pet animal funeral is positive but underprepared for pet animal's funeral. Therefore, pet animal funeral businesses operated on the permit system and the current law should be legalized while clarifying the difference between wild animal and pet animal. Also the professionals related to animal funeral should be trained.

반려인 들이 늘어나고 반려동물 시장이 크게 증가하고 있으나, 반려동물의 장례 관련 연구는 미비하다. 반 려동물 장례의 성장가능성을 타진하고자 반려동물 장례에 대한 인식을 설문을 통하여 조사하였다. 조사 결과 긍정적 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 반려동물 유무, 연령, 종교, 결혼 유무 등이 있었다. 인식조사 결과에서 반려동물 장 례에 대한 인식은 긍정적이었으나, 현재 이를 수용할 반려동물 장례에 대한 준비는 미흡하다. 본 연구를 통해 국내 반려동물 장례의 증가가 예상됨에 따라 반려동물의 장례와 사체처리를 동물보호법 상으로 통합하고, 반려동물 장례관 련 대책마련과 체계화된 반려동물 전문 장례인력 육성에 힘써야 할 것이다.
