This paper is aimed at investigating the relationship between Jesus' disciples and the Matthean community by focusing Matthew 23:34. To reach this aim, the intertextuality and the transparency theory as the main methods are used. The process of this paper is as follows: (1) Intratextuality of Matthew 23:34 in the entire Gospel of Matthew, (2) Inner-biblical intertextuality of Matthew 23:34, that is, Luke 11:49, (3) the Matthean community and Imitatio Christi, and (4) the conclusion. This paper shows that 'the prophets, the wise men, and the scribes' in Matthew 23:34 indicate Jesus' disciples who were responsible for preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, in spite of the persecution by the apostate Jews. The fulfillment of Matthew 23:34 was realized in and by the Matthean community, in the condition that the Gospel of Matthew was written in AD 60's.
