The ultimate purpose of this research was to promote athletic performance by applying cognitive-behavior therapy program to modern pentathlon athletes and verifying its effect on reducing anxiety. The results of applying cognitive-behavior therapy program to separate thoughts and emotions occurring when matching or trained are as follows. First, after applying cognitive-behavior therapy program to modern pentathlon athletes, competitive state anxiety factors were quite reduced, and there was statistically significant difference partially. Second, dysfunctional belief of pentathlon athletes related to anxiety was somewhat decreased through cognitive-behavior therapy program, and there was statistically significant difference partially. Third, the application of cognitive-behavior therapy program made positive effects for athletes such as strength, concentration, confidence, positive thinking, alternative thinking, etc. Consequently, it was found that cognitive-behavior therapy program to handle automatic thoughts by separating thoughts and emotions has an effect on modern pentathlon athletes.
