This paper is an attempt to search for the possibility of new alternative of international university cooperative housing-which are in Paris and are recently required in Korea. After a definition of university cooperative housing and analysis of the concepts of it, an analysis of establishment, management, facilities and cultural characteristics of it are deprived from the housings of university city of Paris, and university cooperative housings of Korea. In addition, the Korean first university cooperative housing for foreign students in Daejeon is analysed. As results of analysis, this paper proposes that the international university cooperative housing is now possible in cities in korea, by urban planning, and by terms of inter-university or city- university or nation-nation cooperation. In addition, the housings for the foreign students and for the students from rural region of Korea are to be mixed, and supporting spaces and cultural facilities are also to be constructed in housing area. This region will be a globalized cultural microcosm. This concept of international university cooperative housing will be a vital point of reference for national, metropolitan and university officers and architectural designers today.
