This study was conducted to prove the differences in the affective use of vocabulary used from thesuicide notes written by the soldiers; the differences derived from the analysis on the cause and characteristicsof the suicides, and the suicides' affective category classification. According to the study, there was a significantfinding that the affective causes derived from the suicide notes of the military suicides could be classified ingroups. In short, by analyzing the model derived from the 24 variables expressed in the suicide notes, the suicideswere categorized into the three main groups; the anger-impulsive factors group, internal factors group andescapism factors group. Also, it was found that the suicide notes contain much information on the personal,social and environmental cause which left the soldiers with no choice but to commit suicide. Through suchdiscovery, it was apparent that the analysis on the suicide notes provide much aid towards understanding thesuicide' psyche and the reasons behind committing suicide. Thus, based on such findings, the suicide preventionpolicy of utilizing the suicide notes was proposed at the end.

본 연구는 군복무 중 자살한 병사들의 유서에 담긴 내용에 대한 분석을 중심으로 자살 원인과특성분석, 자살자들의 정서 유형분류, 자살자 유형분류에 따른 정서적 어휘사용의 차이점을 밝혀내고자하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 병사 자살자의 유서에서 나타나는 정서요인은 집단별로 구분되는 유의미한결과가 도출되었다. 즉, 자살자의 유서에 나타난 24개의 변인에 의해 산출된 모델을 분석한 결과 자살자들은 분노충동요인집단, 내적요인집단, 현실도피요인집단 등 3가지 유형의 그룹으로 분류되었다. 또한,자살자들이 남긴 유서에는 자살자가 자살을 선택할 수밖에 없었던 개인적ㆍ사회적ㆍ부대적 원인과 심리적인 원인 등 많은 정보가 담겨져 있고, 유서에 대한 분석은 자살자의 심리와 자살원인 파악에 큰 도움이 된다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 이에 따라 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 자살자의 유서를 활용한 자살예방을위한 정책적 제안을 제시하였다
