Specifically, in this paper, we attempt to study empirically the anxiety of crime, whether there is a statistically significant relationship between the recognition of the need for the operation of autonomous patrol activities of students in the university the. 최근 대학만을 대상으로 하는 전문 절도범이 생기고, 캠퍼스 내에서 각종 주취문제와 성범죄로 인한 피해가 발생함에 따라 대학의 치안문제가 새로운 사회적 이슈로 대두되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 상황에도 불구하고 대학에서는 범죄예방을 민간경비서비스에만 의존하고 있고, 경찰은 대학에서 별도의 요청 이 있는 경우에 제한적으로 캠퍼스 내부 순찰을 하는 상황이기 때문에, 캠퍼 스에 대한 방범순찰과 같은 범죄예방활동이 턱없이 부족한 실정이며, 범죄가 발생할 경우에도 신속하게 대처하고 사후 대응을 하는 데에 많은 어려움을 겪 을 수밖에 없는 상황에 놓여있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 ‘캠퍼스폴리스’제도를 운영 중인 동국대학교 재학생들 을 대상으로 2013년 10월에 실시한 설문조사를 분석하여 대학 내 학생자율순찰 활동의 필요성 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 조사하고자 한다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 범죄에 대한 두려움과 대학 내 학생자율순찰활동 운영에 관한 필요성인 식 사이에 통계적으로 유의미한 관계가 있는지 실증적으로 조사하고자 한다. 분석 결과 ‘범죄에 대한 두려움’이 높을수록 ‘학생자율순찰활동의 필요 성인식’이 높아질 것이라는 연구가설은 지지되었고, 학생자율순찰활동의 필 요성과 상관관계가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌던 성별, 직·간접 범죄피해를 비롯한 모든 통제변수들은 학생자율순찰활동의 필요성인식에 영향을 미치지 않는 것 으로 조사되었다. 따라서 이러한 결과를 얻은 대학에서는 학생들의 범죄에 대한 두려움에 영 향을 미치는 원인을 점검하고 이를 해결하려는 노력을 해야 할 것이다.
