When playing Korean music, people do not accompany it on the same jangdan all the time from the beginning to the end. Instead, various kinds of jangdan matching the section of the music are played. Despite this characteristic of jangdan, elementary, junior and high school students are not taught to play jangdan according to the flow of music. Therefore, it needs for universal education to teach students a variety of rhythms found in Korean music. Each of the rhythms has the role like as introduction, development, conclusion, relax. It is macrostructure formed according to the role that a variety of rhythms are composed of systematically of introduction, development, conclusion, relax. The macrostructure of jungjungmori(type of jangdan) jangdan is eventually determined by the form of jangdan in music. But in jabga and folk songs that is not always determined by the form of jangdan in music. After all, there are any other factors affecting the macrostructure of jungjungmori jangdan. This study first identifies factors affecting the macrostructure of jangdan in music to examine the macrostructure of jungjungmori jangdan in “Saetaryuong". In addition, the methods and procedures for analysing those factors are examined. This analysis reveals two-and three-stage structures in the semantic structure of words and the structure of paragraph in melody. Therefore, the macrostructure of jungjungmori jangdan can be seen as two-and three-stage structures. In addition, in some cases, the semantic structure of words and the structure of paragraph in melody are identical, but, in others, they are not. In case of the former, the role is determined to be identical and, in the latter case, the role has to be determined based on either one of the factors. This study finds out some cases where words correspond to conclusion but melody is continuance part when the two factors do not have the same roles. In these cases, it is more appropriate to determine jangdan's role based on the words instead of melody. In conclusion, it can be seen that words have greater influence on determining the roles of jangdan when words are conclusion though melody is continuance.

우리 음악에서 악곡을 반주할 때 곡의 처음부터 끝까지 같은 형태의 장단을 연주하지 않는다. 악곡의 흐름에 어울리는 역할 즉, 내고 달고 맺고 푸는 역할을 하는 장단의 형태로 다양하게 바꾸어가며 연주한다. 이렇게 내고 달고 맺고 푸는 역할을 하는 여러 장단으로 짜여진 구조를 거시구조라 한다. 그러나 학교 교육에서는 악곡의 처음부터 끝까지 한 가지 장단의 형태로 연주하도록 지도하며, 이를 위한 연구가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 그러므로 장단의 거시구조를 연구하여 학교 현장에 적용할 수 있는 기초 자료가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교에서 많이 지도하는 중중모리를 대상으로 역할에 따른 중중모리 장단의 거시구조를 연구하였다. 중중모리 장단으로 된 악곡은 <새타령>을 선정하였으며, 분석 결과 중중모리 장단의 거시구조는 달고 맺는 구조의 2단 구조와 내고 달고 맺는 구조의 3단 구조가 있음을 알게 되었다. 또한 역할에 따른 장단의 거시구조를 분석할 때 사설이 선율보다 크게 영향을 준다는 점을 알 수 있었다.
