- This paper verified the cause of fires that the origin is suspected to cigarette butt. This paper also intended the fire investigators could raise their examination ability through the several reproduced experiments. Cigarette butt fallen on the sawdust did not grow into a fire even after a lapse of 90 minutes. Fire did not break out at synthetic resin cushion, styrene foam, sponge on equal condition. Cigarette butt fallen on the leaves grew into fire in the wind velocity of 3 m/s after 3 min. 35 s. Also same result came out on paper shred on the condition of 3 m/s wind and after 4 min. 50 s. Paper scraps or newspaper in a wastebasket were ignited but paper shred or paper cup in a wastebasket were not ignited. In the result of these reproduced experiments, we knew the fact whether the fire broke out or not according to the wind condition even if the same combustibles.
