- This study investigated the architectural characteristics and preservation status of traditional houses, designated as Hwang-Nam Hanok Conservation Area in Gyeongju. It aimed to provide basic information for Hanok preservation policy in Gyeongju by finding architectural characteristics of traditional houses. This study was conducted using the research methods the existing literature and field survey to analyse a current status of traditional houses. It also tried to figure out Hanok distribution, Land ownership status, Building type, Building use, Building structure, Land area, Construction area, Coverage ratio, Roof form, Roofing material, Roof tile material, Roof condition, Eaves format, Wall finishing material, Gate structure, Gate roof, Gate material, Fence form, Fence roof, Fence condition, and the relationships between the physical characteristics of traditional houses and the socio-economic elements.
