The present study is to find out the mediator effect of cognitive distortion in the effect of parenting behavior and the negative peer relationship on the suicidal ideation of the youth. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 405 students of a middle school located in the Metropolitan City of Incheon and Kyonggi province. As measuring tools, the SSI, PBI, NRI and NTS-A were used. The data established in this study were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, if we see the correlations between the parental negative rearing behavior and negative peer relationship and the suicidal ideation, all the correlations between parental negative rearing behavior and negative peer relationship, between parental negative rearing behavior and cognitive distortion, and between parental negative rearing behavior and suicidal ideation showed significant low-extent static correlations. Second, the negative peer relationship and cognitive distortion showed a significant medium- extent static correlation, and the negative peer relationship and suicidal ideation also showed a significant low-extent static correlation. Third, cognitive distortion and suicide accident showed a significant medium-extent static correlation. Fourth, he parental negative rearing behavior and the negative peer relationship were predicted significant in the effect on cognitive distortion. Fifth, in the relation between parental negative rearing behavior and suicidal ideation, cognitive distortion showed partial mediating the relation between parental negative rearing behavior and suicidal ideation. Sixth, in the relation between negative peer relationship and suicidal ideation, cognitive distortion showed full mediating the relation between negative peer relationship and suicidal ideation. This study is significant in that it explained parental negative rearing behavior, negative peer relationship and cognitive distortion as the factors affecting the suicidal ideation of the youth and clarified the mediator effect of cognitive distortion in the relation between parental negative rearing behavior and negative peer relationship and the relation with suicidal ideation. Finally, the study's limits and further discussion were suggested.
