This paper’s aim is to give a total overview of the hand-copying sutras in Shogozo(聖語藏) of SHOSOIN(正倉院). They were made up both chinese handcopying sutras conveyed from Tang or Sui China to Todaiji(東大寺) in Nara period of Japan and classical Japanese hand-copying sutras copied in Todaiji in the 8th century. After that, the hand-copying sutras piled up high and inherited in the library in line with the development of buddhist study of Sonshoin(尊勝院) in Todaiji. Shogozo was separated from Todaiji in modern times. The hand- copying sutras in Shogozo were designated as National Treasures by the Office of the SHOSOIN Treasure House of Japan and reached to about 5,000 sutras. They are of a good quality and of a large quantity of texts and the first grade materials to research Buddhism, history, Japanese language, history of calligraphy and paper of East Asia for the center of Huayan(華嚴) study. Through the Nara hand-copying sutras in the 8th century, we can clearly investigate the process of copying sutras with the ancient documents of SHOSOIN and understand the aspect of the positive acceptance of the foreign culture. They also contained the materials on Korean language and the history of the chinese characters.

이 글은 고대 이후의 불교경전군인 성어장 경권에 대하여, 역사ㆍ내용ㆍ가치 등을 개관 한 것이다. 성어장 경권은 일본 奈良 東大寺에 전해진 중국 사경, 동대사에서 서사된 8세 기의 고대 일본 사경[一切経]을 중심으로 성립되었고, 그 후 동대사 尊勝院의 교학의 발전 과 함께 그 경장에 축적ㆍ전래된 경권이다. 근대에 이르러 동대사에서 분리되어 현재는 궁내청 정창원사무소에 의해 국유 재산으로서 관리되고 있으며, 목록상의 수는 약 5,000권 을 헤아린다. 신뢰성이 높은 양질ㆍ대량의 텍스트이며, 화엄을 중심으로 하는 동아시아 불교학ㆍ역사학ㆍ일본어학ㆍ서예사ㆍ종이의 역사 등을 생각하는 데에 일급 자료이다. 그 가운데에는 8세기의 사경과 같이, 정창원 문서에 의해서 서사의 과정을 상세하게 알 수 있으며 해외 문화의 적극적 수용의 양상을 보이는 것이다. 한국어학ㆍ문자사의 자료가 되는 것도 포함되어 있다.
