This study was conducted in order to examine research trends of physical education, in the field of natural sciences, related to golf and present future research directions. A total of 33 studies in the recent five years were selected for this study through article search using ‘golf’ as keyword from journals in the field of physical education, sports biomechanics, and exercise physiology. A research checklist was composed to analyze the trends of research. The checklist consist of items including, the presence or lack of goals and objectives of the research, sample subject of the research, research method, sampling method, data processing method, congruity of research goals with results, congruity of research objectives with main discussion, and the possibility of field application. The selected studies were used to complete the checklist, which was then statistically analyzed. Results from the analysis were as follows. Most(84.8%) of studies involved professional golf players as subjects while studies intended for amateurs or beginning golf players were extremely small(15.2%) in numbers. While congruity of research goals and results were well presented, need for improvement was found in the area of congruity of research objectives with main discussion. Most of the studies were experimental in research method, using non-probability sampling method, and statistical analysis for data processing method.

본 연구는 체육학의 자연과학 분야에서 골프에 대한 연구동향을 분석하고 미래의 연구방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국체육학회와 소속분과 중 자연과학분야 학술지에서 ‘골프’라는 키워드를 입력하여 도출 된 최근 5년간의 연구물 총 33편을 분석의 대상으로 선택하였다. 조사내용의 일관성을 위해 먼저 연구물 분석 체크리스트를 작성하였으며, 두 명의 연구자와 한 명의 보조연구자가 독립적으로 연구대상인 논문들을 체크리스트에 따라 분석한 후 각 연구자간에 체크리스트 결과에 대한 일치성을 확인하였다. 분석결과, 자연과학분야는 인문사회과학분야에 비해 연구가 많이 되고 있지 않았으며 향후 자연과학분야에서 골프에 대한 많은 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다. 연구의 대상은 골프선수(84.8%)가 대부분으로 앞으로의 연구에서는 골프초보자나 아마추어 또는 특수집단을 대상으로 한 다양한 연구가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 자료처리에서는 통계분석이 주를 이루었는데 사례수를 고려한 분석방법의 적용이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연구의 목표와 목적은 비교적 잘 제시되고 있었고 연구목표와 결과의 일치성은 잘 되고 있었으나, 연구목적과 논의의 일치성 특히, 연구결과의 현장적용 가능성에 대한 제시가 매우 부족한 것으로 나타났다.
