In Russia, at the turn of the century, a spirituality to seek after modernity as foremost among three avant-garde groups was appeared into Suprematism and Constructivism respectively. Though each groups had gone their way separately, nevertheless, El Lissitzky’s ‘Proun’ had been influenced both all groups. And it is noted that particularly Malevich was emphasized in the relation to developments of his ‘Proun’. However, in the progress of abstraction by Lissitzky, another influences had existed. Thus, the aim of this study is to research them by which what is the characteristics of his ‘Proun’. For this purpose, M. Chargall, N. Goncharova, K. Malevich and V. Tatlin who influence mostly in his work is investigated. By extension, this study would survey an influence of Icon in Russian traditional religious arts on El Lissitzky’s ‘Proun’, and finally, explain the fact that his design and idea of ‘Prouns’ are integrated not only by the modern concepts but also by traditional ideas.

세기의 전환점에서 세 아방가르드 단체 중 가장 근대성을 추구하였던 러시아의 정신성은 절대주의와 구성주의로 구분되어 나타났다. 각각의 단체들은 다른 길을 추구하며 발전했음에도 불구하고 엘 리 씨츠키의 프라운은 두 단체 모두의 영향속에서 창조되었다. 일반적으로 말레비치가 리씨츠키의 프라 운의 창조에 있어서의 관련성이 강조되고 있지만, 리씨츠키의 추상성의 형성에는 또 다른 영향이 존 재한다. 따라서, 이 연구의 목적은 리씨츠키의 프라운에 나타나는 특성이 무엇인지에 대해 고찰하는 것이다. 이것을 위해 리씨츠키의 작품에 지대한 영향을 준 인물인 샤갈, 곤차로바, 말레비치, 타틀린을 고찰 하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 이 연구는 리씨츠키의 프라운에 나타나는 러시아의 전통적 종교예술인 이콘 의 영향을 조사하였고, 이 연구를 통해 리씨츠키의 디자인과 프라운의 정신이 근대성을 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라 전통적인 정신성이 통합되어진 것이라는 사실을 도출하였다.
