This study is a discussion about relation between properties of psychological personal space and constructing method of physical space. This research grasped the relations by dividing the social relations formed between space users into hosts, servants, visitors, and deduct the properties of physical elements with each viewpoints, and using comparative analysis with personal space of psychological concept. Case analysis result showed that the method of building the space of traditional architecture was made up by a view of psychological concept ‘Generalized other’, and visualized by the physical expression in ‘depth of space’ which is formed by each view of hosts, servants, visitors. This is an emotional consideration of what unseen to be seen, that is a method of reflecting the human’s psychological stability to artificially built physical space.

본 연구는 사회문화적 특성을 내포하고 있는 전통주거건축을 대상으로 심리적 개인영역의 특성과 물 리적 공간 구축 방법의 관련성에 대한 논의이다. 공간사용자 사이에 형성되고 있는 사회적 관계를 주 (主)와 부(附), 객(客)으로 나누고, 각각의 시점에서 지각되는 물리적 요소들의 특성을 도출하여, 심리 적 개념의 개인영역 특성과 비교 분석하고 그것의 관련성을 파악하였다. 사례분석의 결과 전통건축에서 공간의 조직은 사회심리적 개념인 ‘일반화된 타자’의 시선에서 이루어 지고 있으며, 주(主)와 부(附), 객(客) 각각의 시선에서 형성되는 공간깊이의 물리적 표현을 통하여 시 각화되고 있었다. 이는 보이지 않는 것을 보이도록 하는 정서적 배려로써 인공적으로 구축해나가는 물리적 영역 구성 에 인간의 심리적 안정감을 반영하는 방법으로 생각 될 수 있다.
