This thesis aims to examine a chain of impeachment progresses to banish Chusa Kim Jeong-Hee (1786-1856) and his family circle from the political world and its character. The fact that the reason Chusa was exiled to Jeju Island was with ‘involvement in Yun Sangdo’s imprisonment’ is a matter of common knowledge while no research about ‘Yun Sangdo’s imprisonment’ itself has been done so far. Another purpose of this thesis, therefore, is to investigate whole story of ‘Yun Sangdo’s imprisonment’ as well. ‘Yun Sangdo’s imprisonment,’ however, was on the line with a series of affairs on power struggle in Joseon’s power politics system on the first half of 19th century rather than being a separate incident and it was not an incident related to misfortune only of Chusa but also of his whole family. This thesis, therefore, is to cast light upon ‘YunSangdo’s imprisonment’ while relating it to political prosperity and decline of Chusa and his entire family and it examines principle agents, contents and characters of that political impeachment. To do this, this thesis first divides the political family misfortune of Chusa and his family into tertiary phase and investigates the background of political authority and process of impeachment respectively, and then determines elements that made Chusa and his family, of all people, the main target of impeachment at that time and finally, discusses characters of political history shown through this procedure during the period of power politics in Joseon Dynasty.

이 논문은 추사 김정희(1786~1856) 및 추사일가를 정치세계에서 추방시켰던 일련의 탄핵과정과 그 성격에 대해 고찰하는 것이 목적이다. 추사가 濟州道로 유배 가게 되는 계기는 ‘윤상도 옥사에 연루’된 것이라는 사실은 주지하는 바이지만, 정작 지금까지 ‘윤상도 옥사’ 자체에 연구는 없다. 따라서 이 논문의 또 하나의 목적은 ‘윤상도 옥사’의 전말에 관해 규명하는 것이다. 그런데 ‘윤상도 옥사’는 독립적인 사건이 아니라 19세기 前半 조선의 勢道政治體制 속에서 전개되었던 일련의 권력투쟁적 사건들의 연속선상에서 나타났던 것이고, 또 추사만이 아니라 秋史一家 전체의 家禍와 연결된 사건이었다. 따라서 이 논문은 ‘윤상도 옥사’를 조명하되 이를 추사 및 추사 일가 전체의 정치적 盛衰과정과 관련하여 그 정치적 탄핵주체는 누구이고, 탄핵의 내용은 무엇이며, 성격이 어떠한지를 검토하였다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 먼저 추사 및 추사 일가의 정치적 가화를 3차에 걸친 것으로 구분, 각각 그 정치권력적 배경과 탄핵의 전개과정을 검토하였고, 이어서 왜 하필이면 추사 및 추사일가가 당시 탄핵의 주요 대상이 되었는지 그 요인에 대해 규명하였으며, 마지막으로 이를 통해 드러나는 세도정치기 조선의 정치사적 성격에 대해 논하였다.
