As the number of female marriage-immigrants increases due to the trends towards the globalization, the number of children from multicultural families has been increasing. Recently, as the children from multicultural families enter schools, they have difficulties in adapting to school life. This study examines the situation of such children at schools by comparing them with other children from Korean parents. Based on this analysis, we seek for solutions to improve the problems they face. The surveyor visited 10 elementary schools located in Gangseo-gu and conducted a survey targeting 100 children from multicultural families. For a control group of children from Korean parents, we sampled 745 children of the 4th through 6th grade from the Korea Welfare Panel Study's data The empirical results show that the satisfaction of school life is lower for the children from multicultural families than other general children. Withering and ostracism feeling of the children from multicultural families are also lower than the Korean children. It is also shown that the withering and ostracism influence the satisfaction of school life. In order to increase their satisfaction level of school life and prevent them from becoming outcasts, we need to support the children from multicultural families both in schools and in local communities.

세계화의 경향으로 인한 결혼이민자여성의 증가에 따라 다문화가족아동이 자연스럽게 증가하게 되었다. 최 근에는 다문화가족아동이 학령기에 접어들게 되면서 학교생활적응에 어려움을 겪게 되어 본 연구에서는 다문 화가족아동의 학교생활적응실태를 파악하고 이들과 일반아동과의 특성의 차이를 분석하여 이들의 학교과업수 행 발달과정에서 겪고 있는 문제점을 개선하기 위한 학교와 지역사회 차원의 대응방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 강서구 소재 10개 초등학교에 조사원이 직접 방문하여 다문화가족아동을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 100명의 다문화가족아동으로 부터 응답을 받아 이를 바탕으로 자료분석을 실시하였다. 일반아동은 한국복지패널 자료를 사용하였으며 초등학교 4학년에서 6학년에 재학 중인 학생으로 745명의 표본으로 구성되 었다. 그 결과 다문화가족아동의 학교생활만족도는 일반아동에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났고, 위축과 따돌림 역시 다문화가족 아동이 일반아동에 비해 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 대상아동의 학교생활만족도에 위축 및 따돌림이 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 연구결과에서 나타난 다문화가족아동들의 학교생활만족도를 높이고 위축감, 따돌림 현상을 막기 위해서는 다문화가족아동의 생활공간이 학교와 가정을 포함한 지역사회로 이뤄져 있음을 고려하여 이들에 대한 지원을 크게 학교와 지역사회로 나누어 접근할 필요가 있다.
